So Obama is President. Now what?

Congratulations to my American neighbours and friends on the election that just took place. Your voice was heard through your votes; through your votes, you showed that you really desire change.
And through your desire for change, you’ve chosen the candidate you felt would best lead you through the next four years. But what now? The change that Obama spoke so much of in his campaign has already started - America has its first Democratic president in 8 years. But there’s a lot more work to be done.
And this is work that Obama can’t do alone.
My concern is that those people who waited in “lines that stretched around schools and churches in numbers this nation has never seen”, those people who “waited three hours and four hours” to vote will soon forget the effort it takes to make a difference. That this extrordinary effort that has been seen so far will only be attributed to “election fever”. The political machine is a slow one, as Obama stated in his victory speech: “The road ahead will be long. Our climb will be steep. We may not get there in one year or even one term.” Will those men and women who waited three and four hours to vote be willing to put forth the effort to facilitate this change?
Change has to occur within every man and woman in America. Not just for one day, every four years, but forever. Yes you can.
From my great country to yours, I wish you and President Obama all the best over these next four years.
